The European LIFE project "Huellas" is a project led by the CARTIF Foundation and the Spanish companies VIAS Y CONSTRUCCIONES, together with the University of Granada.
The objective of the project is to reduce the Carbon Footprint and the Water Footprint of railway infrastructures by 10% and 5% respectively, thanks to the Life Cycle Analysis techniques that IK INGENIERIA has developed and applied in the different study scenarios.
To achieve these objectives, the project has developed specific tools and methodologies for the railway sector that help decision-making regarding the environmental impact of each work. Specifically, methodologies to improve those aspects that affect climate change such as the carbon footprint, the water footprint and other environmental and sustainability indicators
