SIEMENS GAMESA WIND TURBINES ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is a new technologies multinational dedicated to wind energy. Sustainability is an essential aspect of the company and is a decisive part of its philosophy, and as a result of this they began in 2014 to develop and certify Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for their wind farms. These EPDs show in a transparent way and verified by an independent third party, information related to the environmental profile of the process of generating 1kwh of electricity in a wind farm, based on a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) study.

Ik Ingeniería has been working with the company since 2014 in the application of the requirements of the Product Category Rules "PCR 2007: 08 Electricity, steam and hot / cold water generation and distribution" to carry out the LCA study, advising the company in the process of collecting life cycle inventory data (from raw materials and equipment necessary to manufacture and assemble the wind turbine, as well as the necessary park infrastructure, to data related to the stage of use and dismantling of the park), in the environmental analysis of the results to draw up the environmental declaration of the product and accompanying the company until the same verification and certification audit.
