Once again, we have collaborated with Irizar in the development and verification of two new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU, for the development of Connected and Electric Vehicles (PERTE VEC).
These two models represent the brand’s most advanced commitment to sustainable mobility:
- Irizar ie bus Efficient, a 100% electric model designed to maximise energy efficiency and reduce emissions throughout its entire life cycle.
- Irizar i6S Efficient FCEV,an innovative hydrogen-powered coach combining autonomy, power and zero direct emissions.
As part of this project, our team carried out the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of both vehicles in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards, evaluating their environmental impacts from raw material extraction to end of life, and developed two Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) based on ISO 14025 and the requirements of the product category rules PCR 2016:04 Public and private passenger buses and coaches.
We also supported the company throughout the complete independent verification process of the EPDs under The International EPD System programme, ensuring compliance with the transparency, traceability and comparability requirements established by the international scheme.
These new environmental declarations enable Irizar to communicate the environmental performance of its most efficient models in a verifiable and objective way, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, technological innovation and continuous improvement of the environmental impact of its products.
