Gipuzkoako Zepa Siderurgikoa, S.L has more than 20 years of experience in steel aggregates and specialises in the recovery and valorisation of industrial waste, including black steel slag, producing high-performance aggregates for concrete, pavements, bituminous mixtures and infrastructure applications. Recently, the company has published the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) corresponding to 1,000 kg of its steel slag aggregate.
This initiative reinforces its sustainability policy, ensuring that its aggregates—subjected to rigorous testing—meet quality standards and are fully suitable for reuse in construction.
At IK Ingeniería, we have supported the company throughout all phases of the project: from the collection and analysis of life cycle inventory data to the preparation of the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), also providing technical support during the verification and certification audit.
The work has been carried out in accordance with the Product Category Rules PCR 2019:14 Construction Products (version 2.0.1) and the principles of ISO 14025:2006 and EN 15804:2012+A2:2019/AC:2021, ensuring a rigorous, verifiable analysis aligned with international standards.
The declaration has already been published and is available for consultation here.
