IK Ingeniería supports Simon in developing EPDs for its range of electrical mechanisms

IK Ingeniería has supported Simon throughout 2025 and 2026 in developing Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for 14 product families within its range of electrical mechanisms. The range includes everything from switches, sockets and USB chargers to devices that enable spaces to be managed and monitored according to users’ needs.

The project has enabled Simon to make further progress in the quantification and communication of the environmental impact of its products, providing verified and transparent information throughout their life cycle. These declarations also provide a valuable tool for architects, engineering firms, specifiers and clients who incorporate environmental criteria into the development and definition of their projects.

The studies were developed in accordance with the main standards and calculation rules applicable to the sector, including ISO 14040/44, ISO 14025 and EN 15804:2012 + A2:2019, as well as the specific PCRs and PSRs for electrical products.

As a result of the project, the EPDs for the different product families analysed have now been published under the PEP ecopassport® programme:

The project has been carried out as part of IK Ingeniería’s technical assistance service, a collaborative model that enables companies to benefit from ongoing and flexible technical support, tailored to the needs that may arise throughout their projects.
