IK Ingeniería collaborates with Sidenor, a leading company in the production of special steels, in the development and verification of several Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and in the implementation of an internal EPD Process management system.
This system will allow Sidenor to manage, develop and publish its EPDs autonomously, ensuring traceability and consistency of the environmental data associated with its products, in accordance with the requirements of the International EPD System, ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards, ISO 14025, and the product category rules PCR 2015:03 Basic iron or steel products & special steels, except construction steel products.
At IK Ingeniería, we have developed procedures, instructions and records to respond both to the company’s internal needs and to the general requirements of the International EPD System rules.
We have also supported the development and implementation of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool, evaluating environmental impacts from raw material extraction to end of life, which has been validated under the scope of the internal EPD Process management system.
As part of this advisory work, we have also provided continuous technical support over the past five years in Carbon Footprint, Environmental Footprint and Circular Economy, helping Sidenor integrate environmental indicators into its sustainability strategy and improve the efficiency of its production processes.
Through these actions, Sidenor strengthens its commitment to environmental transparency, continuous improvement and the decarbonisation of the steel sector, positioning itself as a benchmark in the application of advanced environmental assessment tools in the steel industry.
