The OPTIAM project comes to an end to optimise the environmental impact of the electricity grid

After three years of work, the OPTIAM project has been completed: “Optimisation of the design of the electrical grid and its components to minimise the environmental impact of electricity consumption”, an industrial research initiative launched in 2023 within the Hazitek programme.

The project, coordinated by Ormazabal, aimed to reduce the environmental impact of the electrical grid through the incorporation of ecodesign criteria and digital tools to improve decision-making. The initiative involved companies such as Ingeteam, Pronutec, Aclara, General Electric, Equipel and IK Ingeniería, together with members of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network such as Tecnalia. The BASQUENERGY Cluster supported communication and dissemination of the project results.

Among the main outcomes of the project are the development of tools to assess the environmental impact of electrical equipment and projects, as well as the promotion of ecodesign in new developments for electrical grids.

Participation of IK Ingeniería

IK Ingeniería has participated, in collaboration with Tecnalia and with the support of General Electric and Equipel, in the development of an innovative tool for the joint analysis of the economic and environmental impact of electrical equipment and projects.

Our contribution has focused on facilitating more sustainable decision-making from the earliest stages of design and planning, helping to drive more efficient solutions with lower environmental impact in the energy sector.

The project has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government, under the Hazitek 2023 Programme.
